– A summer advertisement from the American chain, Wendys.

Within restaurant advertisements, the visual elements of them are the most important, it can determine whether or not custom is achieved. This is more important surrounding special holidays or seasons such as Summer or in this case – Christmas.

This post will focus upon small multiples, something which will be included in both the pop-up advertisement and the insert menu. Due to the advert being produced for a fictional chain restaurant, small multiples will be prominent as a wide selection of choice is something very common within these eateries.

The advertisement designed for social media will include a still image of a selection of food on a table – with a selection of Christmas decorations out of focus in the background. The foreground will include ‘party food’ accompanied by festive looking text.

Alternatively, the slide-in menu will focus upon illustrative elements to provide small multiples. Alongside the text within, will be different illustrations of stereotypical Christmas objects such as presents on a snow-laden landscape. the text will also symbolise small multiples, these will include the prices of the items and will also include symbols which indicate vegetarian and vegan food.

– The symbols to advise which dishes are Vegetarian (Vg) and Vegan (V)
– Examples of some of the illustrated images which are focused on Christmas.
